Say YES to the Library Levy Lift: A Sample Email to Send
The library is a cornerstone of our community—and it needs our help! The South Whatcom Library levy lift will help maintain funding for the programs, staff, and events we all love.
We’re encouraging current Friends to share the letter below with others in our community. Spreading the word can help ensure our library gets the support it needs. Please consider using this letter to help advocate for a YES vote—and feel free to personalize or edit it to reflect your own voice and connection to the library!
Hi [Name],
I wanted to share something that really matters to me—our libraries. On August 5, Whatcom County voters will be asked to approve a levy lid lift (Proposition 2025-02) to restore essential library funding.
Our library system hasn’t asked for increased funding since 2009, and it shows up every day with programs, books, digital resources, and safe, welcoming spaces. Now, with growing costs and more people using library services than ever, they need our help.
A YES vote means we can:
Keep our libraries fully staffed and open
Maintain access to both digital and physical materials
Support free programs like Summer Reading, tech help, and early learning
Make sure everyone in our community continues to have access—regardless of income
📚 I’m voting YES on Proposition 2025-02 because I believe libraries are for everyone.
